Hyderabad FC's First Clean Sheet in 19 games helped them get 3 points
First time in the history of Indian Super League, 14 indian players started the match. Last year's debutant Hyderabad FC started their campaign in season 7 of Hero Indian Super League with a win. Last season, Hyderabad FC was unable to keep a clean sheet in a any game. They played 18 games last season and conceded at least one goal in all of them.
First Half : Aggressive Hyderabad FC, Aridane scored from a penalty spot
Under the new coach, Manuel Marquez, Hyderabad FC started their new campaign on a aggressive note. In the first 10 minutes they have earned 3 corners. Aridance, who played for Odisha FC last year was swapped with Marccelinho for this season. Aridane had a great chance in 3rd minute of the game when his free header was off target. In the first half, most of the game was played in Odisha's half. Hyderabad FC pressed well from the very beginning. Odisha FC struggled to find Marcelinho who is their go to man in attack. Brazillian Marcelinho has the record of most assists (18) in the Hero Indian Super League history.
In a counter attack from Hyderabad FC, Halicharan Narzary's shot towards goal was stopped by a hand of Odisha FC's skipper Taylor inside the penalty area. Refree was quick to show Taylor yellow card and give Hyderabad FC a golden chance to break the deadlock. Aridane Santana, scored a goal with a cool and calm finish. At the half time the score was 1-0 in favour of Hyderabad FC.
Second Half : Hyderabad FC's substitutes kept the pressure on Odisha FC
Odisha FC surprisingly substitute their talisman Marcelinho in 55th minute. Hyderabad FC bring in Liston in place of impressive Yasir. Liston was the man of the match of second half. in the 30 odd minutes, he showed his class. His run, his touches, his tackles, Odisha FC didn't have the answer of any questions asked by Hyderabad FC. So the score remained at 1-0 and Hyderabad FC, first time in the history of Hero Indian Super League, kept a clean sheet.
