Chennaiyin FC beat Jamshedpur FC by 2-1. All the 3 goals were scored in the first half itself. This was the first game for both the teams. Both the coaches are known for their aggressive approach of play and it was evident on the pitch. Valskis will play this season with Jamshedpur FC, while he played last season in Chennaiyin colours. Valskis is the Golded Boot winner of last season. Owen Coyle coached Chennaiyin last season, this time around he is guiding Jamshedpur FC.

First Half : GOAL! GOAL!! GOAL!!!

Refree blow the whistle and Jamshedpur players passed the ball in their half, Rafael Crivellaro intercepted and started a run towards goal. He passed the ball to the debutant Esmael Goncalves, who made a cross and Anirudh Thapa's first touch of the match saw the first goal of the season for Chennaiyin FC. Anirudh Thapa became the first Indian goal scorer of the season. Chennaiyin FC is known for their goal scoring records in ISL.

Jamshedpur FC didn't know what just happened to them inside few seconds. They started getting together and attack the Chennaiyin FC's defense. Jamshedpur FC won a free kick in the 7th minute and they had a beautiful chance to equalize, but the free header from Peter Harley missed the target by inches.

Both teams were playing end to end football. Chennaiyin had another chance to extend their advantage in the 20th minute when Crivellaro found Lallianzuala Chhangte with a smart pass. Chhangte’s effort, though, was pushed behind for a corner by Jamshedpur’s goalkeeper TP Rehenesh, who was quick off his line to narrow the angle for the shot.

Jamshedpur's defender Isaac pushed Chhangte inside the penalty area and Chennaiyin won the penalty. Debutant Esmael Goncalves didn't let this chance go and his team double the lead.

Jamshedpur FC looking for an inspiration that can push them to work harder and the inspiration came from the former Chennaiyin player Valskis. Jakichand Singh's curling cross was headed towards goal by Valskis and bring down the eqation to 2-1 before halftime.

Second Half : Missed Chances

Both the teams tried their best and successfully created chances, but the final touch was missing. TP Rehenesh made few spectacular saves to keep the scoresheet at 2-1. Both the teams will sit after the match and will talk about their missed chances. Though Chennaiyin won 3 points but they have to make sure that their defense should work as one.
