ATK Mohun Bagan beat Kerala Blasters in opening match of 7th season
Indian Super League (ISL) is now the most famous football league among Indian fans. Two big clubs Mohun Bagan and East Bengal joined the league this year. They bring a huge fan base of football with them. It is not only good for ISL but also beneficial for Indian Football. 7th season of ISL started with the match between ATK Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters.
ATK Mohun Bagan FC showed why Mohun Bagan dominated the Indian football for so long. Kerala Blasters have the majority of the possession. They dominated the midfield with 60%-40% of possession. Kerala Blasters pass accuracy was 75% as compared to Mohun Bagan's 59%. But it was ATK Mohun Bagan who showed Blasters what is needed to become a champion team. ATK created more clear chances as compared to Kerala Blasters. ATK had 2 shots on target and Kerala had none.
Roy Krishna, the goal machine of last season, started the new season from where he left. Roy Krishna is too good a player. If you give him a little bit of space then he will make sure to punish you, that's exactly what he did on Friday. He was unmarked in the final third and scored the goal in 68th minute of the match. The goal was the difference between the teams.
Just a solitary goal separated @KeralaBlasters and @atkmohunbaganfc in the #HeroISL 2020-21 season opener!
